If you are like me you already have Craigslist/Kijiji/Ebay Motors open any way so find the best bike you can for less than $1000 doll hairs.
Here is the best one I can find.

Just go to any Pickles auction house and there’ll be at least 10 there. You can buy them straight off the lot for anything between $200-$1000

Getting one to Canada from one of those auctions might burn any sort of savings!

Suzuki TS250 2 stroke cafe racer project bike. Allegedly it runs, just needs to have the seat finished. $850

You’re from the Erie area?

I like to think I got a decent deal on the one I just bought, an ‘88 Honda Hurricane 1000. Bought it under the assumption that it was a non-running 600 that had been laid down for $750. Got it home, found the engine size on the case, did a tuneup, along with a new battery, and it fired right up and purrs like a kitten. Sometimes I get lucky.

Assuming the Yamaha just needs new gas/carb cleaning I’d go for that. I keep toying with the idea of buying an old Japanese touring bike for long distance rides.
